Nesting
Nesting is the instinctive urge to create a comforting, safe space. With significant impact on your well being.
During these colder months it is by far one of my favourite things to do with my loved ones. Keeping us connected, grounded and at peace. And ultimately helping my own creativity flourish
Here are some benefits of nesting for new mothers and families, ways it can significantly help and hold you in the early stage postpartum.
Emotional and Psychological Comfort
Sense of control. The postpartum period can be unpredictable. Having a prepared space can help the parent feel more grounded and in control.
Reduced stress and anxiety. A clean, organised environment can promote calm and reduce overstimulation, which is helpful during emotionally intense periods.
Bonding support. A cozy and peaceful environment encourages quiet time, skin-to-skin contact, and other bonding activities.
Strengthened Mental Health
Boost in confidence: A well-prepared space can help a new parent feel more competent and ready to meet their baby’s needs.
Positive mindset: Completing nesting tasks gives a sense of accomplishment that can uplift mood, especially helpful in warding off “baby blues.”
While not every parent feels the urge or has the means to nest extensively, even small steps toward creating a comforting postpartum space can have a significant impact on well-being and recovery.
