Frequently Asked Questions

MFM broths and meals are delivered frozen in 1litre glass jars. The broth cubes are delivered frozen in cube sized portions and packaged in 450mls brown paper kraft bags.

Delivery is made on the date you choose. We endeavour to deliver before 8.30am or after 3pm. Made for Mothers is handmade fresh weekly and delivered to you frozen. As a result, our product is heat sensitive so we do our best to deliver it to you within convenient time frames for you to unpack and transfer to your freezer. Bear in mind it will stay frozen once delivered for a few hours. To help further with this we ask that the receiver or someone please be home for the packages arrival to avoid any excess heat exposure. Made for Mothers cannot be held responsible for any damage or for conditions beyond our control.

Once your MFM package is delivered to your front door or specified area, we will confirm delivery by text and we will NOT knock unless we are instructed to. After delivery, we will not be responsible for any stolen items. We will photograph where each box is left so we can ensure accurate delivery. At check out, please specify delivery instructions (such as specifics on apartment block entry and security gates) in the notes section.

The items in jars will remain frozen for a few hours. The cubes are more likely to defrost after one to two hours, depending on the season. Therefore it is advised that someone please be home for the package's arrival. If this is not possible and in the case you leave early in the morning or arrive home late in the evening, and you want your goods to remain frozen, please be in touch and we will see what we can do.

MFM is committed to lowering the impact on our environment. We hope you can find use for your jars in your home food storage as they are a much better option than using plastics with their harmful, synthetic by-products. When using them, make sure they are sterilised and that you only transfer warm foods, allowing them to further cool before transfering to the fridge or freezer. Fill them an inch below the top to allow space for expansion when freezing. If you have an excess, please recycle.

I am a nutritionist with special interest in female health and reproductive health. I have designed the menu to be suitable for women at every stage of life, which includes pregnancy. Botanicals that have been included have been done so in culinary quantities and as such they are safe quantities to be consumed. Always make sure you store the food as suggested and consume it within the given time frames and expiry date. Also make sure it is heated thoroughly before eating it. If in doubt or needing further assurance, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Further to this, always seek the advice of your physician or other qualified health provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay in seeking it because of something you have read on this site.

Absolutely! MFM is restorative, supportive, nutritious food that can be enjoyed by everyone. Enjoy MFM if you are recovering from illness, feeling uninspired to cook for yourself, or are looking for a healthy family meal. Partners, older children, grandparents, and support people also love to be fed by MFM. Order for your entire crew.

My preferred method would be stove top. Simply empty the contents of your jar into a small pan, cover and warm on a medium heat, stirring continuously, for 10 minutes or until it is slightly bubbling but not a full boil. Always make sure that your food is heated evenly throughout.

You can also use a microwave, just be sure to empty the contents into a microwave safe dish before doing so.

Everything arrives frozen and lasts 6 months in the freezer. Defrost your MFM in the fridge overnight and once defrosted, keep refrigerated below 4c at all times. Consume the broths within 5 days and the meals within 3 days.

MFM broth wobbles like jelly and feels like a “big warm hug”. I include a variety of 100% pastured and humanely raised chicken & beef bones to the pot and simmer these for a minimum of 12 hours. Add to this unique botanicals that have been selected based on their health restoring properties, and what you have is a deeply, gelatinous broth with a flavour and nutrient profile like no other.

The change of seasons is always a great time to cleanse! It is a time to slow down and focus on the changes around you, creating bonds with the natural world, by spending more time reflecting from a quiet place inside. There is also a shift in climate and as such energy shifts and dietary requirements change. The Made for You Broth Cleanse supports these changes as it allows your body to reset and provides you the strength to change habits and create a more healthful regime.

As well as opportunities to cleanse during season changes, we are constantly exposed to a wide array of toxins in our environment and whenever faced with physical, mental or emotional challenges, the Made for You Broth Cleanse is a great tool to assist you in overcoming these.

Cleansing is ideally considered during the first half of your menstrual cycle, and is not advised for pregnancy or lactation.

Anytime of the week that works for you is best. But ideally not when you have stressful work or home commitments as its best when you are not under pressure and can therefore focus on your cleanse.

Order your cleanse in advance so that you have time to defrost the broths and soups and be ready to start.

We also recommend you start your cleanse prepared by reading our in-depth Made for You Broth Cleanse Guide. We also provide a small brochure with your cleanse to further assist you!

Yes! All of our products are delivered frozen. Pop the cubes in the freezer and keep them there until you are ready to make your elixir or smoothie. You make these using frozen cubes.

As for the broths and soups, defrost these in two-day batches. This is what we recommend.

Defrost the first two days worth of broth and soup, 1-2 days prior to starting your cleanse. (1 day on the counter or 2 days in the fridge). Follow the above process for the balance days. Defrosting in two day increments. Once defrosted, warm your broth by bringing it to a slight boil, take it off the heat, cool and consume.

If you are a novice in the kitchen – never fret- we are to support you. And as such have provided illustrated guides for the elixir and smoothie prep on our web page, in the Made for You Broth Cleanse Guide and we also provide a small brochure with your cleanse to further assist you.

In brief, there are a few very easy steps to making both of these.

For the elixir, put in a small saucepan:

250mls dairy-free mylk (or a blend of dairy-free mylk and water)

+ 1 broth cube

Heat gently to a simmer then whisk with the whisk we provide you

For the smoothie, put in the blender:

250mls your choice of dairy-free mylk or coconut water, 1 broth cube, 1 tablespoon healthy fat like nut butter, 1/2 cup complex carbs like banana, 1 tablespoon soluble fibre like oats, and blend

We provide different ingredient options (and brand recommendation) in detail in the cleanse guide.

Each cleanse is unique alike every person is unique in their metabolism and life requirements. Many people find that they aren’t hungry and have plenty of energy throughout their cleanse. However, listen to their body and if you’re in need of some extra fuel to maintain your energy levels, you can introduce some of our approved foods, which will help sustain you without disrupting the benefits of your Made for You Broth Cleanse.

 These include…

Healthy fats: avocado, coconut yoghurt, ghee

Soluble fibre: chia seeds*, psyllium husks or flaxseeds

*Make a chia pudding: 3 tbsp chia seeds and 1 cup coconut water or mylk

Protein: poached egg, buckwheat noodles

Greens (must be cooked): spinach, chard, kale, silverbeet, broccoli

Herbal Teas: chamomile, ginger, liquorice, dandelion, peppermint, lemon balm, burdock

Spices or flavours: miso, seaweed, coriander, parsley, ginger, garlic, turmeric, rosemary, thyme

Ideally, it is best to steer clear of coffee as you cleanse as it is a stimulant and can be very acidic, disrupting the health of your gut. We have included Ceremonial Cacao as our morning elixir, the cacao has a mild caffeine content but is supportive of a healthy digestive system.

Never fear we have provided a timed example to navigate the menu. This is given to you in the Made for You Cleanse Guide and also the small brochure delivered with your cleanse to further assist you!

Whilst we have created the menu to have a wide array of broths as each imparts it’s on benefits. If you have culinary requests, we are happy to make adjustment to the broths. Please send us an email at orders@madeformothers.com to request any changes

The healing power in broth comes from slowly simmered bones, collagen, cartilage and marrow which gives you a melting pot of ultra-absorbable nutrients and rich gelatine. These boost your bodies’ ability to produce highly valued collagen, a super power protein which is everywhere in the body, nourishing your connective tissue and benefiting your internal organs. Added bonus is its ability to retain the firmness of your skin and maintain your youthful glow.

Bone broth is known to promote healthy sleep cycles, improve brain function and enhance memory, support the immune system, and reduce symptoms of autoimmune disorders. Regular consumption has shown promise in preventing osteoarthritis and offers support to your joints.

A well-made bowl of delicious, wobbly, gelatinous broth is a good source of protein, and has particular amino acids in abundance. These nutrients feed, restore and protect our precious intestinal lining, preventing the absorption of pathogenic substances from our diet and lifestyle. They also stimulate the fire within our digestive system, getting the vitality of the whole process rocking. It’s no wonder that traditional cultures swear by a cup of broth before a meal as we are only ever as healthy as the strength of our digestion.

We also have specifics on the benefits of the Made for You Broth Cleanse, provided in the Cleanse Guide.

Our broths are made with carefully chosen, restorative botanicals which not only impart nutrient benefit but also fabulous flavour. Making them a warming, comforting pleasure to drink. We recommend sipping on our broths as is.

By all means keep the jars, they are fabulous for pantry storage. Otherwise, you have two options. Either recycle or if you place a second order – please let us know you are returning jars and we will pick them up for you.
