Ayurvedic Postpartum Package
The postpartum period in Ayurvedic tradition, is a sacred window of recovery called sutika. Lasting around forty-two days, the diet consists of light warm soups and easily digestible meals which have been thoroughly cooked. With the aim of restoring strength and vitality to the new mother. Ghee is used frequently. And large quantities of warm liquids are taken throughout the day and separately from meals to help rehydrate and warm the body.
Our Ayurvedic Postpartum package includes these simple, easily digestible foods and warming liquids which ignite a new mother's digestive fire, known as Agni. Observing a primary belief of the Ayurvedic practice, that when digestion is working well a woman’s body can focus on healing and rebuilding. And that when a new mother both eats and digests enough restorative foods, she is supported to make breast milk.
Providing warming and supportive foods, we also recognise the need to balance the dosha postpartum. All women will experience some vata imbalance after childbirth. And when vata is out of balance, it will often aggravate the balance of the other dosha.
